The Trainer's Compass

General description for Trainer's Compass: The overall objective of TEAMS project is to develop,
pilot and assess a standardized training package (set of simulation exercises), focused on
operational team training for EMCs/EMTs, adapable to different types of EMCs/EMTs

Physical Context

In this session you will learn how to set up an efficient training space, ensuring the comfort of participants. You will receive insights on how to use proxemics to enhance the effectiveness of the training activities.

Concept note

Goals

This module is intended to update participants with the emerging concepts and skills on physical context management, with a basic understanding and knowledge of training space set up for exercises and activities. Setting up an efficient training space, ensuring the comfort of participants, understanding how to manage small and big groups, how to set up a room for table top exercises and how to debrief and ask for feedback are essential facets of physical context aspects and keys to a successful learning experience.

Learning Objectives

On completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Use space management tips when facilitating learning activities, in particular table top exercises;
  2. Set up an ergonomic training space according to the type of training and audience;
  3. Understand the principles of group dynamics and how to manage a group to help them learning;
  4. Apply the basic concepts of verbal and non-verbal communication to improve the effectiveness of the activities;
  5. Use proxemics to enhance the effectiveness of the activities;
  6. Become familiar with debriefing models and understand how to set up training space to facilitate the debriefing process.
